Freespace Happening (28.2.2016)

Bring your family to Freespace Happening on 28 February, when the wide selection of music, theatre and games we have planned promises something for everyone!

To ignite the creative talents of kids aged 3 to 15, community Art Network will host open-air drawing, instrument-making, hands-on costume-designing and other fun games – encouraging participants to explore the park and let their imaginations run free.

For the little ones, Hong Kong Repertory Theatreinvites children aged 3 to 6 – with their parents – to join the Cantonese participatory story theatre, Filial Piety in Action, where they can help characters solve problems and be part of an inspiring performance.

And – perfect for audiences of all ages wanting to dance or lie back and relax – we have a world-music themed concert on the Central Lawn featuring everything from Cantonese Opera to choral music, gypsy jazz and African beats, as well as an orchestra and a star-studded jazz quintet.

Visitors aged 16 plus can be part of an exciting new, audience-oriented performance – Someone Else – an original, immersive theatre experience by UK theatre maker Ant Hampton. Transforming you from spectator to performer, Someone Else takes you on a personal journey, challenging you to step outside your normal circles and re-examine the city around you. Register early if you would like to take part.

So, bring your picnic mats and join us to dance, play games or get creative – and make most of the great open spaces of the Nursery Park.
