Ocean Park Christmas Sensation Presents
HK’s Largest Indoor Lighting Spectacle

Ocean Park is again presenting a new breakthrough in this year’s Christmas Sensation with Ocean of Light, Hong Kong’s largest indoor lighting spectacle with millions of eco-friendly LEDs to showcase a miniature of Ocean Park, at the Applause Pavilion. The attraction features 10 of the Park’s most iconic attractions, including the Grand Aquarium, the Ferris Wheel, the Cable Car, as well as over 50 adorable animal ambassadors, offering countless photo opportunities for guests and their loved ones to reminisce the memorable moment.

Ocean of Light

The public can experience Ocean of Light at the 13,000-square-foot Applause Pavilion throughout the day and evening when Ocean Park Christmas Sensation starts on 13 December. Guests will be greeted by snowmen and gleaming angels after entering through a rainbow-coloured tunnel, and will be amazed to see 10 iconic attractions of the Park spanning across the sky, land and sea, including the 23-foot-high Brick Hill, the Grand Aquarium, South Pole Spectacular, Sichuan Treasures, the Rainforest, jumping dolphins, Cable Car, Ferris Wheel, The Abyss and Hair Raiser. Guests can also find over 50 glittering animal ambassadors sprinkled around the exhibit, including a 10-foot-tall toucan, dolphins, penguins, giant pandas, red pandas, golden sub-nosed monkeys, sea jellies, rays, parrots and many more!

Ocean Park has always been a veteran at transforming an area with lighting, sound effects and attraction designs to create extraordinary experiences for guests, evident by the highly acclaimed Halloween event this year. Extending its expertise to the Christmas events, a team of  a hundred people, together with experienced lighting designers, specially recruited from Japan, worked together to replicate some of the Park’s iconic attractions in the new Applause Pavilion to offer guests an unprecedented miniature world of lights this Christmas.

70 Feet, the Tallest-ever Christmas Tree

In addition, Ocean Park is setting a new “high” this year with the tallest-ever Christmas tree, measuring 70 feet in height, at the Waterfront Plaza, which will be transformed into Christmas Candyland with giant candy canes, gingerbread men and cupcakes. Considered as one of the Park’s biggest breakthroughs this year, Ms. Eva Au Yeung said, “There are a lot of factors to take into consideration when constructing an outdoor Christmas tree, such as wind speed, safety, etc. A lot of precise calculations and structural designs were behind the construction of this year’s Christmas tree, which stands at 70 feet tall, almost twice the height as the one from last year.”

Twinkle Tree Lighting Celebration

The nightly Twinkle Tree Lighting Celebration will be every evening during the Christmas Sensation period at 6:15p.m., and will be complemented by the beautiful sounds of Christmas carols performed by local choirs from Hong Kong schools and organizations, which gives true meaning and a magical ambiance to Hong Kong People’s Park. At the nearby Santa’s Candy Cottage, guests will have a chance to take photos with Santa and receive his seasonal greetings.  Guests can also write down their warmest festive wishes on postcards, available for purchase from the retail outlet in Old Hong Kong, and have them stamped at the Cottage before dropping them into a special post box.

Doraemon Christmas Party House

Marking another “first” for Ocean Park, the ever-popular Doraemon and friends will play host at the Doraemon Christmas Party House in Whiskers Harbour. Appearing in Christmas looks, the characters will be hiding at various corners of the attraction, which is colourfully decorated and filled with gifts. Guests will also have the opportunity to play the piano with Shizuka and take photos with Doraemon in his Christmas attire. In addition, young guests can create, decorate, and take home unique Christmas ornaments with interesting Doraemon expressions for free, the perfect complimentary seasonal offering.

Christmas Street Shows

Apart from greeting guests at the candy cottage this holiday season, Santa will also appear at Polar Adventure for the first time to share Christmas feasts with the lovely penguins and enjoy a white Christmas together. Moreover, he will dive into the Grand Aquarium to join the fishes in sharing seasonal greetings with guests. In addition to taking photos with Santa at South Pole Spectacular and the Grand Aquarium, guests can savour Christmas cuisines at the Tuxedos Restaurant and Neptune’s Restaurant, while enjoying the interactions between Santa and the animal ambassadors. Dancers in sugar candy dresses will put on Christmas Street Shows at the Summit to help spread the holiday cheer.
