“Descendants of the Earth: Horseshoe Crab” Creative Community Engagement Event
Starting from 30th June to 14th July 2016, Hongkong Land together with OPCFHK will present a two-week community event on horseshoe crab conservation, Descendants of the Earth: Horseshoe Crab at The Rotunda. Designed to brush up conservation knowledge and unleash creativity, the series of games, DIY workshops and conservation talks will enable families and students to learn about the indigenous species through the fun-filled weekend activities. Horseshoe Crab Conservative Activities Hongkong Land, in partnership with Ocean Park Conservation Foundation, Hong Kong (OPCFHK) and the City University of Hong Kong (CityU), has introduced a Video Competition to 2015/16 Juvenile Horseshoe Crab Rearing Programme. Students who participated in rearing the juvenile horseshoe crabs at schools created short videos to promote public awareness on horseshoe crab conservation. The videos are available for public viewing and voting via the Facebook fan page of OPCFHK (https://goo.gl/LbthpF) until 24th June 2016 and the results will be announced at the Programme’s Finale Ceremony on 29th June 2016 at The Rotunda, Exchange Square in Central.
Creative workshops on the weekends (1st to 3rd July and 9th to 10th July) for both kids and adults include craft-making of horseshoe crab paper helmet, DIY T-shirt Upcycling Tote Bag, Conservation Postcard Making, Embrace Horseshoe Crab Conservation Talks (to be delivered in Cantonese or English) as well as other conservation-themed games. Descendants of the Earth: Horseshoe Crab marks the finale of 2015/16 Juvenile Horseshoe Crab Rearing Programme, a major CSR initiative supported by Hongkong Land.
