Nutrient needs of the mother during breastfeeding
Many mothers do aware of many benefits of breastfeeding for the baby, besides bringing the baby's body to be stronger, but also build up valuable time between mother and baby. However, many novice nursing mothers, for their own consumption of food and nutritional intake, still have a lot of questions.
Breast milk is the nutrition from the mother's body through everyday meal, or from the mother's reserves nutritious milk secretion. Breast milk is the best nutrition food supply for infant brain development, bone development, growth and improves the immunity of blood required for a variety of nutrients. However, if the mother already malnourished would lead to breast weight reduction, quality nutritional content decreased antibody levels are also reduced. Therefore, when breast-feeding, mothers should allow their body to prepare for the best nutrition to give for their baby.
The amount of nutrition and heat source for breast-feeding mother are more compare to others, each day they will needs about 500 extra calories, such as adequate intake of protein, fat, carbohydrates, calcium, iron, zinc and vitamins. Therefore, if mothers intend to breastfeed, they must have a balanced diet, for the sake of dieting to lose weight is totally unacceptable.
Intake of nutrients will be: 1. Protein - meat, fish, eggs, milk and so on. 2. Selenium - seafood, offal. 3. Iodine - deep-sea fish, salt with added iodine 4. Zinc - red meat and the shell fish. 5. Vitamin A - tomato, pumpkin and radish. 6. Vitamin B complex - meat and grains. 7. Vitamin C - kiwi and orange.
Breast-feeding food taboos: 1. Do not eat pickled foods such as bacon, salted egg, salted fish, bean curd, etc., should also pay attention to food hygiene. 2. Do not eat spicy food, such as pepper, spicy, pepper, curry and so on. 3. Food that only give heat but without nutritional value, such as fatty meat, fried foods, candy, chocolate and so on should eat better. 4. Should always consult a doctor when taking medication. 5. Not drink or eat caffeinated beverages or food. 6. Do not drink alcohol related beverages. 7. No smoking. 8. Vitamin E – oil and nuts.
