Children Typically Takes 14 minutes to Finish their Breakfast
The rapid pace of life style in Hong Kong, with the children is also the same. University of Hong Kong has surveys over the past two months visiting with children studying in 500 from kindergarten to primary school student’s parents. The results showed that parents spend an average of 30 minutes in the morning from getting their kids out of bed to groom them in their school uniform to their toilet arrangements to finally having breakfast which actually only have about 14 minutes for the kids to eat. Nutritionist found out that most of the parents like to serve butter, peanut butter, jam, condensed milk with bread to their children for breakfast. Most parents choose to buy bread, hot dog bun and pineapple bun. He reminded parents when purchasing jam or butter should pay attention to product ingredients label, to avoid food containing high fat, high sodium and high sugar. He suggested that can be replaced by a healthier hazelnut sauce, jam, because these have more vitamin E, can stabilize the child's emotions, have a lower glycemic index. The carbohydrates in a meal can increase concentration and thinking skills, so noodles and rice porridge, bread and cereals, are great for children to have in their breakfast. Development of protein can provide the necessary nutrients in children, high-iron foods such as beef, but also the child's learning ability, cognitive ability and good influence immunity, as high calcium foods such as milk and fortified soy milk can also provides essential nutrition for the growth of child's bone. Many interviewed parents said that due to time constraints, many children will be unhappy too simple and refuse to eat breakfast or eat slowly, under the pressure of their parents rage prone to conflict affected parent-child relationship. In fact parents need is just 5 minutes to make something that their children will like to eat and the kids can also have a healthier nutritious breakfast, examples such as mince beef with eggs and oatmeal, banana wheat bread with tuna fish, plus a glass of milk or calcium soy milk. A healthy reminder for parents, children do not eat breakfast in the morning will easily feeling tired, and their memory and attention would also be decreased, for the child learning skill will sure be affected to a certain extent, at the same time jam with a higher sugar level, butter which is high in fats, a long-term consumption for children can affect their health.
